Virtual Reality FAQ

What do I need to be able to offer VR?
  • Obstruction free space of 2x2m for each headsets you wish to operate, or 6x6m (or larger) for free roam titles.
  • A single 13Amp power socket
  • A VR system from Infinity VR (no installation).

Our systems are wireless, even if you want to show spectators the video.
You can use existing TV’s, projectors or screens, wirelessly for spectators too.

Standalone VR uses a built-in Android-based computer (similar to a smartphone) inside each headset to display and run the games.
A single laptop manages all the headsets, and ensuring everything works together smoothly.
Games are automatically installed and managed through our laptop system, with all control and data handled by our software.

PCVR setups use a dedicated high-performance gaming computer for each headset. The games run on these PCs, with video and audio streamed wirelessly to the headsets using advanced networking technology and our custom code — allowing cable-free operation.
Many systems still rely on cables because wireless PCVR is technically complex to maintain reliably, but Infinity VR systems run smoothly every day across the world.

Differences: Standalone VR offers a smaller library of titles made specifically for each headset brand, with more limited graphics. PCVR, on the other hand, supports a vast range of high-quality titles — designed for entertainment, immersive experiences, education, and business applications.

VR Titles are made usually for one, sometimes both, of the following types:

Room scale: Each player has their own space (at least 2mx2m) and plays individually. Movement is physically within that space and also uses game controls such as teleporting or by using joysticks. The advantage is that one large space is not required. Unconnected smaller spaces can be used.

Free roam: All players share the same, larger, space, and  walk freely in that space. They can see the real physical location of others in VR to avoid collisions. Free roam requires one large area of at least 6m x 6m for a 6 player arena. Larger areas allow for  enhanced experiences and usually more players.

Hardware – VR headsets, external batteries, battery chargers, one or more computers, networking equipment, case or rack.
Software – Software to manage the hardware easily. VT titles (games, experiences, educational titles).
Optional – Web Site, booking system, marketing plan and media, marketing budget, spectator viewing system and location.
Infinity VR can provide any, and all of the above.

VR titles must be licensed for commercial use. Some are completely without charge, such as Google Earth, but most are free to install and offer, with payment made upon usage. Amounts are calculated in a transparent and easy way by software systems with monthly payments. They usually amount to around 10-20% of revenue.
Some titles offer monthly or annual buy out plans that can significantly reduce their cost.

There are a number of ways Infinity VR can supply you all that you need to operate VR. They are based on your requirements.

The Infinity team will help from the start, with location and venue finding,  selection of equipment and software, finance, set up,  staff recruitment and training, web site, booking system, marketing, 24 hr support and maintenance.
  • Independent Partner Programme: Everything you would expect from a franchise, but with your own brand, and your choice of any, or all, of the services we offer. The monthly retainer is mandatory.

  • Independence – We are not tied to any manufacturer or software supplier specifically, but partners with most suppliers in the industry, such as Pico and HTC, Ubisoft, Spawnpoint, Synthesis, Herozone, VR Cave, etc, so will always be able to recommend the best hardware, software and ancillary services.
  • (You may note that META and the Quest range are not listed here. This is because we do not recommend their range for commercial use.
Meta do not support location based VR and regularly change their policies and support in the commercial sector. Their hardware and software is not optimised for this use. Only those seeking to reduce the headset hardware costs, at the expense of operational stability and reliability, suggest Meta are a choice. We will not recommend Meta headsets except for personal use, for which they are the best choice at present).
